Looking back on your career, do you have a funny story to share?

None at this stage – lost my sense of humour the last few weeks! But I did once have clients who believed me when I jokingly said that I had a degree in Linguistics – they were rather fascinated with my accomplishments, when I was really just referring to the fact that I can sometimes speak quite a lot 😊

What exciting trends do you see in the property industry?

No two days are ever the same in Real Estate. You meet fascinating people, negotiate meaningful transactions, and help clients through some of the biggest decisions of their lives. It is dynamic, people-driven, and certainly never boring.

What advice would you give to someone starting out in the industry?

The work can be taxing, stressful, and at times emotionally draining. You must manage multiple personalities, complex transactions, high expectations, and tight deadlines – all while staying calm and solution focussed.

To succeed, you need:

  • Tenacity and grit,
  • Confidence and strong negotiation and networking skills
  • Emotional resilience
  • The ability to handle rejection regularly
  • Self-discipline and perseverance
  • A sense of humour
  • Thick skin and positive mindset

Real estate is not a job – it’s a lifestyle and for many of us a calling. For the right person, it offers freedom, growth, financial opportunity, and gain. But it requires stamina, discipline, and unwavering commitment. If you’re prepared to work exceptionally hard, stay resilient, and show up consistently, it can be one of the most fulfilling careers you’ll ever pursue.
